How to get to the Chatham Islands

Visitors to the Chatham Islands must first arrive in New Zealand, which is connected to the rest of the world with direct services on many of the world's airlines, including the country's own internationally recognised Air New Zealand.

Air ChathamsThe Chatham Islands are well serviced by air. Air Chathams runs three return flights per week from Wellington and one per week from Christchurch and from Auckland. Air Chathams also offers charter flights to the Islands.

The seas about the Islands can be extremely dangerous for navigation.


Note that the requirement to have confirmed accommodation booked before arrival on the Chatham Islands applies to passengers disembarking from private vessels as well as passengers arriving on commercial vessels or flights.
